Have you ever wanted to have a miniature sommelier in your pocket?
Nintendo, the folks who make electronic video games, plans to launch beginners Wine DS in Japan this November. Beginners Wine is intended, however, as an educational program for adults—particularly women—who want to learn about wine and how to order it properly. There will be quizzes and wine-knowledge games.
But don’t line up outside the Nintendo store just yet to be the first in your tasting group to own one.
Klee Kuo, a spokesperson for Square Enix, the game’s developer, says, “So far there’re no plans for announcement to bring it to the U.S. As I understand it, Beginners Wine is more of a non-game game that teaches you how to select wine.”
Kuo says the program would play on a standard DS two-screen, hand held unit.
The company is developing a related game, Bartender DS.
And for those who can navigate the Japanese Web site and simply must have one, try Nintendo’s DS site—www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/.
