Here’s something even the Disney Imagineers wouldn’t have dreamed up: a fine restaurant that has a stated mission to celebrate California wine-country cuisine, but has German Riesling as its top-selling by-the-glass pour. That’s because all 42 chefs and servers at Napa Rose have passed the Court of Master Sommeliers’ Level 1 or Certification Exams, explains Michael Jordan (MS, CWE), general manager/sommelier. This means that the chefs and servers not only know how to talk wine to guests, but also understand what pairs well with Chef Andrew Sutton’s mouthwatering California menu. (Think organically grown heirloom tomato salad with bacon and Roaring Forties blue cheese paired with a Vin Ruspo 2007 Rosato di Carmignano.) Don’t miss the 50 magnums signed by individual winemakers and vintners, located in the restaurant’s beautiful display cellar.
