Perkulator Coffee Doppelbock (Dark Horse Brewing Company, Marshall, Michigan). You can smell coffee beans in the nose of this doppelbock-style beer. A round finish is punctuated with metallic flavor.
Coffee Stout (New Glarus Brewing Co., New Glarus, Wisconsin). While the flavor (no complex layers) isn’t as snazzy as its woodblock-print label, this is a beer brewed with a conscience. The coffee grounds come from Just Coffee Co-op in Madison, Wisconsin—a 100% Fair Trade roaster.
Fuel Café Coffee Stout (Lakefront Brewery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin). Coffee from Milwaukee’s legendary Fuel Café is mingled with barley and mild hops, resulting in a beer that’s rich, smooth and unwavering, with a flawless finish.
Cappuccino Stout (Lagunitas Brewing Co., Petaluma, California). Columbian coffee from a Sebastopol, Calif., roaster (Hard Core Coffee) emits a dark-roasted flavor and powers this beer into a malty finish.
Jah*va Imperial Coffee Stout (Southern Tier Brewing Company, Lakewood, New York). Brewed with Jamaican Blue Mountain roasted coffee, this dense beer has tempering notes of brown sugar and a syrup-like aftertaste. The coffee taste emerges mid-palate and tones it down for a lingering finish.
