A number of large wineries, solid-waste recyclers and transportation companies have chipped in $3.5 million to create Wine Bottle Renew. The new venture will enable some of the millions of wine bottles in the U.S. each year that go to landfills to go back into use instead.
Trade organizations representing the wine, beer, and distilled spirits producers in all 50 states issued to members of Congress an unprecedented joint letter strongly denouncing HR 5034, also known as the CARE Act. The groups signing the letter included: the Distilled Spirits Council; Wine Institute; Beer Institute; Brewers Association; and WineAmerica.
