The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) has approved the Pine Mountain-Cloverdale Peak appellation as the 14th American Viticultural Area of California’s Sonoma County. The newly minted AVA encompasses about 4,600 acres, planted mostly with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel.
The Oregon Wine Board and Oregon Winegrowers Association appointed Tom Danowski executive director to represent Oregon’s $2.7 billion wine industry. Prior to his appointment, Danowski served as director of winery marketing at the renowned Chateau Ste. Michelle and Columbia Crest Wine Estates.
Starbucks will expand beer and wine sales to as many as seven locations in the Chicago market by the close of 2012. In 2010, Starbucks first started the concept of serving alcohol alongside a small-plate menu in a Seattle store as a means to boost off-peak sales.
Rick Tigner, president of Kendall-Jackson Winery, will be featured on the two-time Emmy Award-nominated CBS reality series, Undercover Boss, on Sunday, January 29. Kendall-Jackson is the first winery to be featured on the show.
On Wednesday, December 7, Dom Pérignon launched the release of its 2003 Vintage Champagne in London. The celebrated Champagne house’s chef de cave, Richard Geoffroy, also simultaneously appeared in Paris, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong via a hologram broadcast to present the release and answer questions from the audience.
