After spending the day skiing or snowboarding, Park City visitors and locals alike head to the recently remodeled Sky Blue lounge—a posh oasis located on the fourth floor of The Sky Lodge, a boutique hotel—to sip cocktails, wine and beer in the swankiest of settings.
Just a few steps from the city’s bustling Main Street, the bar’s polished indoor space is dressed with black lacquer furniture, crystal lamps and a bar that’s painted ice blue to mirror the expansive Utah sky. For those who want sweeping views of the snow-covered Wasatch Mountains, stroll onto the outdoor deck; it’s kept toasty with four fire pits and radiant-heated floors. But perhaps the coziest seating of all is in the oversized hot tub. There you’ll find a slew of guests planted in front of the power vents, sipping warm cocktails made with schnapps.
But for those who like to stay cool, chilled cocktails like the Pommard—made with Calvados, fresh apple cider, a touch of lemon juice and simple syrup infused with cinnamon and cardamom—and suds like Epic Cross Fever Amber Ale and the Belgian-style ale, Squatters Hell’s Keep, are plentiful and range in price from $5 to $22. The whiskey menu includes a variety of offerings from Park City’s High West Distillery, the first legal distillery in to operate in Utah since the end of Prohibition. But if wine from the New or Old World is what a reveler craves, the list of 150 bottles should fit the bill. And as far as food is concerned, wild mushroom bruschetta with goat cheese and thyme, or the seafood platter from the raw bar are visitor favorites.
