Isole e Olena 2007 Syrah (Toscana)
The Wine Program
There are 600 selections on the list, including an extensive collection of Italian offerings from some of the most famous wineries in Italy, as well as many wines from lesser-known regions. The tasting menu is dedicated to showcasing wines in their intended vintage expression, especially older offerings and great vintages that many people do not get the chance to experience. “We also have a fair amount of the up-and-coming Italian options like Franciacorta and orange wine,” says John Toigo, assistant general manager and wine director, as well as 30 by-the-glass possibilities.
One perfect pairing is wild cod with chanterelle mushrooms and Hudson Valley foie gras matched with Barolo. “As a sommelier, this dish is like heaven because so often guests want red, but also want seafood,” says Toigo. “This is a seafood dish that can handle Barolo, Brunello, as well as a good Burgundy.”
The fee is $50 per 750-ml bottle, with a maximum of two bottles. Corkage is not available on Fridays, Saturdays or holidays.
