Fortunately, in winemaking, nice guys do not always finish last. A case in point is Santiago “Santi” Mayorga, one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet in the wine business. The fact that he’s a talented winemaker who learned from one of Mendoza’s living legends, Roberto de la Mota, only makes him more compelling.

Nieto Senetiner is a winery of 120 years of tradition and prestige. In 1888, Italian wine immigrants planted the first vines in the Vistalba Valley, Luján de Cuyo district, Mendoza. Originally the vineyards consisted of different European varietals, but over time, Malbec and Bonarda dominated the landscape of Vistalba’s vineyards. Now, 120 years later, shoots from mother vines continue producing groundbreaking wines.

Nieto Senetiner – The Modern Face of Argentine Winemaking Tradition. Santiago Mayorga, Winemaker for Nieto Senetiner, discusses winemaking in Argentina, from past traditions to today’s more modern approach.
