The Morellino di Scansano wine originates in one of the most natural and uncontaminated areas of Tuscany: the southern coastal area of the region known as the Tuscan Maremma.
The wine, locally known as “Morellino”, almost completely made from the Sangiovese grape variety, owes its particular properties to the soil and climate of the area: the vineyards benefit from the sea breezes that mitigate the high daytime temperatures of the summer.
Morellino di Scansano became a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) from the 2007 harvest. The addition of the “garantita” is the fruit of the labor of producers and growers over the last 30 years in order to reach an exceptional level of quality at every stage of wine production.
