After he fled from a career in lobbying, McDaniel has become something of a wine wunderkind. Not only does he head up diverse wine programs for Beacon Tavern, Coda di Volpe, The Dawson, The Gage and Acanto (which has about 600 wines), he also teaches hospitality classes and has a California wine label, Amos Cellars.
