American Airlines Serves New York State Wines

April sees NYS wines in the skies.

New Yorkers, want another reason to celebrate spring? American Airlines is giving you one. As many New York residents head to warmer climes for April vacation, they will be able to sip a taste of home. This month, First Class and Business Class customers on transcontinental flights—i.e. New York to Los Angeles, Seattle or San Francisco, will imbibe wines from the Empire State, including Salmon Run Cold Brook Riesling blend from the Finger Lakes region and Bedell Cellars Merlot from the North Fork of Long Island.

"American Airlines is pleased to offer these local wines as a way of expressing our appreciation to our New York-area customers, as we continue to enhance the onboard experience for all our valued premium class customers," said Mary McKee, American's Managing Director of Onboard Products.

American hopes to increase the variety of wines served in-flight with the addition of a new wine consultant, international wine-judging professional and connoisseur Diane Teitelbaum.

Teitelbaum, whose pet peeve is "wine snobbery," will regularly update 15 wine lists created for specific routes, to keep the selection fresh for customers. American also provides an online pamphlet listing the available wines, including background information and tasting notes, for each route.
