The Best of the Best of 2005

This time of year, when the previous 13 issues have been put to bed, our editors take some time to reflect. Recalling the more than 8,000 wines and nearly 300 spirits they tasted over the course of the year, they compile a list of their favorites.

This list is designed to help our readers stock their cellars and liquor cabinets with the best wines and spirits available. Broken down into three categories, there is a list to satisfy any palate, both with taste and budget.

The Top 100 Wines of 2005 will give you the editors' collection of the best wines of the year, keeping in mind price, availability, newsworthiness and sense of excitement.

The Top 100 Best Buys of 2005 will provide the editors' choices of the highest quality wines priced under $15. The idea here is the wines provide outstanding quality for their modest price tags.
