Call it gastrology by astrology. Three times a year - to coincide with a full moon - the Boulders Resort & Spa in Carefree,
Gemini and Aquarians, both sun signs, and gregarious by nature, like to be surrounded by lots of people at parties. Nibbling on light finger foods allows them to flit around a room with ease. Librans are similar in that they don't like eating fussy foods, but are "very concerned about aesthetics," explains McMullen, "so the food won't be as important as the table setting and the people they invite."
An Aquarian tends to gravitate towards multi-cultural cuisine. "It's the sign of invention, so it's where you'd have a party of all sorts of things people would not expect," he says. Those falling under the Taurus sign will also take note of the details. "If you were to entertain with a Taurus, it's all about the sensual aesthetics of food and wine."
Naturally Aries, symbolized by the ram, might like lamb dishes, but "because it's a fire sign and a hot-headed sign, we tend to spice things up," says McMullen.
Capricorns, as earth signs, typically enjoy meat. They are also practical. This might mean eating an herb, or any fruit or vegetable, while it's in-season. "They're not one for fancy - they like regular staples. But if it's exclusive, like caviar, they'll be all over it."
As a sign that embodies the home and hearth, a Cancer will feel most comfortable at a sit-down feast where there are only a few other guests.
Another water sign, Pisces, will enjoy just about any fish dish. Yet a lack of boundaries is also attractive to this sign - evident in the sign's creative and dream-like state - so a chef shouldn't hesitate to experiment when cooking for a Pisces.
