Crabtree's Kittle House

What started as an unassuming country barn in 1790 has lived many lives: private residence, boarding school, even a speakeasy owned by gangster Dutch Schultz. Today, the inviting white colonial is both inn and restaurant; the wine cellar is located in what were once the stables, redesigned by Glenn Vogt, managing partner/wine director, in 1990. Vogt is a well-regarded authority in the wine, food and restaurant business, having run major restaurant/wine operations around NYC for the past 25 years. Together, he and partner John Crabtree ensure that the traditions of the Kittle House flourish. Guests can enjoy cocktails and dining in the garden or in the grotto-esque tap room that is replete with stone fireplace. And, after a decadent meal from CIA-trained Chef Kevin Bertrand, late night revelers can seek solace in the 12-room inn.
