At Washington, DC’s AGAINN, your favorite bottle of whisky is both coddled and revered. The Whisk Group’s modern gastropub offers 135 private Scotch lockers each for rent at $500 a year by an individual or shared by up to five friends. Each wooden locker is lined with felt, temperature controlled and emblazoned with a personalized nameplate. The rental fee includes a bottle of Scotch from AGAINN’s core list, a $50 gift certificate for dinner, invitations to special events and tastings, and use of the taproom for private events. Guests can stock their lockers with up to five bottles selected from among the restaurant’s 80-plus whisky offerings, all sold at retail price. “The Scotch locker program allows our guests to have a sense of ‘home’ in the restaurant,” explains General Manager Kate Killoran. “They can use their locker to entertain clients, or just to come in and relax and have knowledgeable people to talk to about Scotches and other
liquors.”
