CELLAR SELECTION

100 Casanova di Neri 2007 Cerretalto (Brunello di Montalcino). Cerretalto is always a top expression of Brunello, but the conditions of the 2007 vintage elevate it to perfection. It delivers aromas of dark fruit, chocolate, spice and tobacco. The acidity is balanced against the wine’s richness. The finish is long, luscious and elegant. Keep in your cellar 10 years or more. abv: 15%                                      Price: $270

EDITORS’ CHOICE

94 Mira 2010 Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir (Carneros). Gustavo Gonzalez left Robert Mondavi to do his own thing, and this is an auspicious debut. A big, bold but balanced Pinot, the flavors are complex, ranging from fresh raspberry jam and cranberries to deeply earthy cola. The acid-tannin balance is just about perfect. Good as it is, this Pinot should develop bottle notes over the next six years. —S.H.
abv: 13.5%                                   Price: $42

BEST BUY

90 Red Newt Cellars 2011 Circle Riesling (Finger Lakes). Exotic, tropical melon and pineapple flavors are accented by whispers of chalk and powdered sugar on this brisk yet penetrating Riesling. Light on its feet with a textural, almost feathery mouthfeel, this Finger Lakes wine is truly an incredible bargain at just $12. It should prove a perfect pour for the summer ahead. —A.I.
abv: 11%                                       Price: $12
