Cocktail from November 15th issue.
Author of 101 Martinis (Wiley Hard-cover, $15.95) Kim Haasarud created this cocktail extemporaneously at a Thanksgiving family gathering, inspired by the cranberry relish on the menu. She suggests adjusting the amount of simple syrup, depending on how sweet or sour the cranberry relish is.
3/4 tablespoon cranberry relish (not canned)
2 ounces red cranberry juice
1½ ounces orange vodka
Simple syrup*, to taste
Rosemary sprig, for garnish
* ½ cup granulated sugar and Â½ cup hot water, combined in a small bowl until dissolved and cooled.
Combine the cranberry relish, cranberry juice, orange vodka and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a rosemary sprig.
