Designed to promote the food, wine and culture of France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region, Monday, June 6th marks the first day of the month-long Sud de France Festival in New York. The event, which also takes place in Shanghai, Düsseldorf, London and Rio de Janeiro throughout the year, aims to educate attendees about the epicurean Mediterranean lifestyle.

The slew of events scheduled to take place from June 6-30 in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and The Hamptons include dinners, wine tastings and concerts with nearly 120 participating wine stores, restaurants and wine bars. Other special guests include winemakers and chefs.

Here are some of the Sud de France highlights:

Sud de France Festival Launch Party. June 6th, 6pm-8pm (VIP & trade); 8pm-11pm (general admission): A night of wine, music, dancing and joie de vivre featuring artist Francesca Caruana and travel writer Tony Perrotet. This soirée will create an ambiance with enough spirit to transport attendees from the banks of the Hudson to the Mediterranean Coast. Taste Sud de France wines and dance the night away to Lull, The New York Brass Band and DJ sets by David Terranova, Aingeru Zorita and Makda.

An Evening at the James Beard Foundation. June 20th, 7pm-10pm: Young, dynamic chef Charles Fontès arrives fresh from Montpellier, France to prepare an authentic Sud de France dinner at the James Beard House. Partnering with fellow Languedoc-Roussillon native Cédric Tovar of Daniel Boulud’s Feast and Fêtes, these two talented chefs will execute an inspired meal with the perfect Sud de France wines paired with each course.

Fête de la Musique Concert at the Hiro Ballroom. June 22nd, 7pm-10pm: The annual “Fête de la Musique” takes place on the first day of summer, celebrating music with concerts across the world. Sip your Sud de France wines from the VIP open bar from 7pm to 8pm before enjoying the sounds of French artists Maïa Vidal, Ben l’Oncle Soul, Louis Bertignac and others.

Sud de France Wine Tasting. June 27th, 7pm-9pm: Sud de France concludes the festival with a wine tasting featuring Vignobles du Soleil, a vineyard in the Languedoc-Roussillon. With a presenter arriving directly from the region, a selection of wines will help guests to experience all that it means to invest one’s talents and emotions into the beautiful product that is a Sud de France wine.
