If beer seems to attract rock acts, then spirits align themselves with the big names of hip hop. Sean “Diddy” Combs recently acquired the luxury Tequila brand, DeLeon, whose top shelf offering nets $1000 a bottle. Hip hop impresario Ludacris’s new Money Maker is his Conjure Cognac bottle, which he helps blend, while fast-rapping Timbaland is the man behind Le Sutra, a line of flavored sparkling liqueurs.
Never a man to rest on his laurels, music Golden Boy Justin Timberlake recently started his own liquor outfit, 901 Tequila, while also partnering with Sauza for its Sauza 901 Triple Distilled Tequila. Guitar legend Carlos Santana also boasts a Tequila brand, Casa Noble. Latin music heartthrob Enrique Iglesias veers off the path slightly with his Atlantico Rum label.
