| Description: | The Old-Fashioned was created at the Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky, in the late 19th century. In all probability it was first made with Bourbon, but this rye-based recipe is a great alternative. -Gary Regan and Mardee Haidin Regan |

| Ingredients: | 1 teaspoon superfine sugar 2 dashes Angostura bitters 1 orange slice 1 lemon wedge 1 maraschino cherry 2-1/2 ounces rye whiskey |
| Directions: | Using the back of a sturdy spoon, muddle the sugar, bitters, orange slice, lemon wedge, and maraschino cherry together in a double old-fashioned glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes. Add the whiskey and stir well. |
