Wine Enthusiast Contributing Editors Paul Gregutt and Steve Heimoff both have received nominations for Best Writing on a Wine Blog from the American Wine Blog Awards. The organization has been recognizing top wine blogs since 2007. Winners will be announced at the American Wine Bloggers Conference, held June 25-27 in Walla Walla, Wash.

In addition, Heimoff is keynote speaker at the conference. He will speak on the emerging relationship between traditional print media and blogs.

The American Wine Blog Awards was started by blogger Tom Wark, of the blog Fermentation, in 2007. The winners are selected by a public vote and by a panel of judges. Wark, a public relations specialist in Sonoma County, handed off the Awards to a private group that runs the Wine Bloggers Conference, which was first held in 2008. There is also a European Wine Bloggers Conference. It meets this October in Vienna, Austria.

Heimoff began his blog in 2008. He covers California wine for Wine Enthusiast. Gregutt, who covers the Pacific Northwest for the magazine, launched his blog this year. He also is the wine columnist for The Seattle Times.

Couldn't have happened to two greater guys (and writers). Congratulations to Wine Enthusiast for having such tremendous talent on board. I've always enjoyed reading what these two gentlemen have to say... here, and there, when they have interesting opinions.
