Wine Enthusiast sponsored its third annual dinner for the Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association "Great Wine Escape" event, on Nov. 14. The theme was "Founding Fathers of Monterey County." Attendees included, pictured from left to right, Steve McIntyre (McIntyre Vineyards), Eric Wente (Wente Vineyards), Al Scheid (Scheid Vineyards), Phil Franscioni (Muirwood), Rich Smith (Paraiso) and Jerry Lohr (J. Lohr). The event was held at the InterContinentalClement Monterey Hotel, on Cannery Row. Ten wines were paired with five courses, each prepared by a different chef: Jerry Regester (the Intercontinental), Robert Bleifer (Food Network), Rick Edge (PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn), Jeffrey Jake (The Carneros Inn) and Mark Ainsworth (Pastry Smart).
