How To: Make Apple-Cinnamon Syrup

Use this spiced syrup to make your cocktails more festive this holiday season.

Published on Oct 26, 2011

One

Combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, ½ cup of coarsely chopped dehydrated apple chips and ½ cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring all the ingredients to a boil while stirring continuously.

Two

Lower the heat and simmer until reduced. To test, dip a spoon into the mixture. The syrup should coat the spoon.

Three

Remove the pan from the flame and let it cool to room temperature. Then strain the syrup into a bottle. Yielding about 1 cup, the syrup can be stored for roughly 45 days refrigerated.

Try this festive cocktail recipe using the apple-cinnamon syrup:

4 teaspoons apple juice
Splash of ginger ale
Cinnamon stick, for garnish

Combine syrup, Bourbon, lemon juice and apple juice, add 2 ice cubes and stir. Top with splash of ginger ale. Add cinnamon stick to glass. Makes 1 serving.
