How To: Pickle Your Own Ramps for a Bloody Mary

Try this cocktail technique behind your home bar.

Published on Sep 20, 2011

One: Fill a 1-quart container with clean ramps, cover with water, and mix in 1 cup of salt. Make sure the salt dissolves. Let it brine overnight.

Two: Drain and rinse the ramps. Combine the brining liquid ingredients (see recipe online) in a stainless-steel pot and bring to boil, add the ramps to the pot, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

Three: Cool the mixture and transfer into a glass jar. Refrigerate until ready for use. Add one pickled ramp per drink to ramp up your brunch cocktail.

Here's a brining liquid recipe!

Brining Liquid

1/8 cup kosher salt
1 cup sugar
¼ teaspoon whole celery seed
¼ teaspoon whole cloves
