With more than 160 years of history, Cointreau is at the heart of both classic and modern cocktail culture. La Maison Cointreau brings the history and mystique of the iconic, French orange liqueur to life, taking guests on a discovery of the true art of cocktail making and entertainment through a series of elaborately-designed rooms. Located at 632 Hudson in the iconic Greenwich Village, the 5,000-square-foot nineteenth-century townhouse boasts three floors for exploration. On the journey, Alfred Cointreau, sixth generation family member, will highlight Cointreau's rich history, its beginnings in Angers, France, in 1849, its inclusion in some of the very first cocktail recipes ever created, and its legacy today.
On Tuesday, October 16 and Wednesday, October 17, guests will have the opportunity to look through one of the largest collections of rare first-edition and historic cocktail books dating from the mid-1800s and gain a glimpse into Cointreau's relevance throughout history as one of the only spirits to be listed in recipes by name. Visitors will next experience a Cocktail Lab, reminiscent of the Apothecary of yesteryear, where they will taste classic and contemporary Cointreau cocktails followed by a hands-on cocktail making class with Cointreau's Master Mixologist, Kyle Ford. Guests will end the evening in a transportive French boudoir and ballroom echoing with Parisian chansons. La Maison Cointreau will allure and captivate from start to finish, entertaining all the senses.
