Extremely well-integrated aromas of blackberry, wet slate, vanilla brioche and buttery pie crust emerge on the nose of this bottling from Billy Wathen and Dick Dore. Juicy elderberry jam shows on the palate, along with cigar box and chipped-pine flavors. It's all presented with boisterous acidity and fine-grained tannins, and is still a tad wound up.
