Brewed in memory of Matt Courtright, an employee of the brewery, this is an interesting selection that offers lots of sweet-smoke character within Stone's signature big, bold flavor profile. The nose is intense, with an assertive charred cherrywood aroma followed by additional scents of honey-drizzled banana, peach, pepper and clove. These notes continue through to the medium-full bodied palate, with the charred-wood flavor taking center stage. Medium carbonation helps balance the weighty mouthfeel, ending dry and moderately astringent.
