Delightful bouquet of butterscotch, hazelnut, old cigarette ashes, spices, fennel and honey. Entry is intensely herbal and semisweet; the midpalate is medicinal, a touch smoky, herbal and honeyed. Finishes with a notable honey taste and an end taste reminiscent of Drambuie. I like this flavored whiskey.
Note well: this is not Irish whiskey. The word whiskey does not appear on the front nor back labels. If you are looking for something along the lines of Southern Comfort, this will work. It's sweetened, spiced, colored, and distilled. If you are a fan of Irish whiskey, you'll want to pass this up, for the above tasting reasons. We found it undrinkably sweet and additive-flavored, tried to pass it on to acquaintances who were more interested in alcohol content than flavor several times, and were unsuccessful, due to the cloying flavorings.
