Marydel, Delaware: Inaugural Gourmet Wine Dinner

Date/Time

Oct 19, 2013
6:00 pm until 9:00 pm

Description

Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural five-course gourmet wine dinner at Harvest Ridge Winery, set for Saturday, October 19, as a prelude event to the fourth annual Delaware Wine and Beer Festival on Sunday, October 20 at the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village in Dover.  The event is a partnership between Harvest Ridge owners Chuck and Chris Nunan and Kent County Tourism.

“We are so pleased to partner with Harvest Ridge to introduce one of Kent County’s newest tourism attractions to our visitors and community,” said Cindy Small, Executive Director of Kent County Tourism.  “As Delaware cultivates its wine, beer and spirits tourism, Kent County will be an important part of the equation, with two wineries, two breweries and a distillery.”

“Our goal was to expand our one-day festival to include additional events and this helps us achieve that goal,” Small said.  “Another new addition to this year’s event is the Delaware Homebrew Championship, and we already have plans in the works to expand the event again in 2014.”

The dinner will be hosted at Harvest Ridge Winery, located at 447 Westville Road west of Wild Quail Golf and Country Club.  The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with tours of the new production facility, and a complimentary commemorative wine glass filled with Harvest Ridge wine.

The dinner will be held in the vineyard’s new banquet facility featuring a five-course meal prepared by the chefs from Abbott’s Grill Restaurant in Milford and paired with wines produced by Harvest Ridge.  Guests will have the opportunity to meet the winery’s new sommelier, Milan Mladjan, who relocated to Delaware from Ontario to assume his new position at Harvest Ridge.

“Milan is passionate about history, so much so that he majored in History and Anthropology in college,” said Chuck Nunan, owner of Harvest Ridge.  “After that, he went on to receive his degree in Wine and Viticulture studies from Niagara College with diplomas in winemaking, winery marketing and management and master taster and sommelier, and we can’t wait to introduce him to our community.”

Tickets are available for the dinner at $75 per person or $500 per table of eight.  A special lodging package at $298 is also available, which includes an overnight at the Hampton Dover Hotel, two dinner tickets for the Saturday, October 19 gourmet wine dinner event, two continental breakfasts and two tickets to the Delaware Wine and Beer Festival on Sunday, October 20.
