2nd Annual Cheers for Change fundraiser to benefit marine debris pollution prevention research programs
We're celebrating solutions to plastic pollution in our waterways! On the waterfront in Newport Beach, CA! Come out and visit with Captain Charles Moore and hear about his voyages, past and upcoming, to The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which he discovered. Much research has been done around the world, and continues on this important issue.
This mix-and-mingle, wine-around/dine-around-style event will indulge your taste buds in wines from New Zealand and Australia, with food pairings to complement from local restaurants.
Tickets are $65 pre-paid; $75 at the door.
We'll conduct two presentations prior to the event, 4:00-6:00 pm, on plastic pollution issues and prevention strategies. Ticket prices $25 (additional). Scientific Solutions Symposium presentations by UCLA Pritzker Brief authors Mark Gold, Katie MIka, Cara Horowitz, Megan Herzog, & Lara Leitner will highlight global policy recommendations; a second presentation on plastic debris size in the Los Angeles and San Gabriel River watersheds of So California will be addressed by UC Santa Barbara Bren School of Environmental Science and Management masters candidates.
