After graduating from Johnson & Wales University in 2008 with a culinary arts degree, Burnside started her career making artisan cheese at The Herbfarm in Woodinville, Washington. A growing fascination with fermentation prompted a push toward homebrewing and bread baking, and following an internship at Laurelwood Brewing Co., Burnside was firmly invested in making beer. Racking up experience at top Northwest breweries like Portland’s Upright Brewing and Seattle’s Elysian, she’s now Portland’s first female brewmaster, at 10 Barrel Brewing Company.
