The Americano

Legend has it that this drink was created in late 18th-century Italy by an unknown bartender who was trying his hand at making an American- style drink. -Gary Regan and Mardee Haidin Regan

  • 1 1/2 ounces Campari
  • 1 1/2 ounces sweet vermouth
  • 2 to 3 ounces club soda
  • 1 lemon twist, for garnish

Pour Campari into an ice-filled highball glass. Add vermouth and soda. Garnish with lemon twist.
