The Fireside Cocktail

Courtesy of Jenn Tosatto of Dempsey’s Burger Pub, Kansas City, MO

Jenn Tosatto is one of the Midwest’s most well-known bartenders, competing in the national Diageo World Class and Vinos de Jerez Sherry competitions. This winter, she finds herself making this simple wine cocktail again and again. She says it’s super comforting, drinks easily and is perfect to curl up with in your favorite ugly holiday sweater before you retire it until next year.

Ingredients

3 ounces Malbec
1 ounce cherry juice
¼ ounce simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 ounces club soda, to top
Mint sprig, for garnish

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Gently roll from one side of the shaker to the other 4 times. Strain into a highball glass over ice. Top with club soda, and garnish with the mint.
