- 1 1⁄2 ounces Old Overholt rye whiskey
- 1 ounce dry vermouth
- 3⁄4 ounce grenadine (*Eastern Standard makes their grenadine homemade; see recipe below)
- 3⁄4 ounce lemon juice
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Strain into a chilled lowball glass. Using a vegetable peeler or channel knife, peel some lemon zest over the glass (but do not use the zest as a garnish).
