At 7 p.m. last night EST in San Francisco, twin girls were born to Gina Gallo, the granddaughter of Julio Gallo—who with his brother was co-founder of E & J Gallo, the world’s biggest wine company—and her husband, Jean-Charles Boisset. Boisset is the scion of the Boisset family, owners of Burgundy’s largest winery and France’s third biggest, as well as a growing presence in Calfornia.
The Gallo-Boisset union, in December 2009, was an intercontinental merging of two of the world’s most powerful wine dynasties. Mr. Boisset said names of the children have not yet been determined, but that the couple are “thrilled” by the births. Mother and babies are resting comfortably. These are the first children for the couple.
