New market research by SymphonyIRI Group, Inc. and the Distilled Spirits Council predicts more than a 20% jump in wine case shipments between now and 2015, and nearly a 50% increase by 2020.

Gruppo Campari acquired Brazilian cachaça brand Sagatiba from entrepreneur Marcos de Moraes for $26 million.

Fiji Water and parent company Roll Global are buying Sonoma’s Landmark Vineyards, the company’s second California winery acquisition in less than a year. The sale price was not disclosed.

The Court of Master Sommeliers welcomed six new members to its ranks: Devon Broglie, Craig Collins, Michael Engelmann, Douglas Marello, Patrick Okubo and Brandon Tebbe now join 112 individuals in the Court’s Americas Chapter, and 180 worldwide, who have the rare distinction of being called a Master Sommelier.

Custom winery Crushpad announced that wine business and technology executive Peter Ekman will become CEO effective August 1, 2011. Founder Michael Brill will continue with Crushpad to expand international partnerships and new product initiatives. Previously, Ekman was executive vice president and co-founder of Ascentia Wine Estates.

Jim DeBonis returned as head of Ascentia Wine Estates—the company he formed in 2008—replacing Mike Kenton as CEO.

Delta Air Lines hired Food Network personality and chef Michael Chiarello as one of its food and wine experts.
