SKYY Spirits, the subsidiary company of Davide Campari-Milano S.p.A., has changed its name to Campari America in Canada, Puerto Rico and the United States. Campari America’s portfolio consists of numerous brands, including Cabo Wabo Tequila, SKYY Vodka, Wild Turkey Straight Kentucky Bourbon and the renowned Italian bitter, Campari.

The Court of Master Sommeliers announced on January 9, 2012, the appointment of Master Sommelier Greg Harrington as the new chair and Master Sommelier Laura DePasquale as the new vice chair of the organization’s board of directors.

According to new research released by the trade show Vinexpo and International Wine and Spirit Research (IWSR), China supplanted Britain to become the fifth-largest wine-consuming nation in 2011. The United States was the top wine-consuming nation, while Italy, France and Germany clung to second, third and fourth places, respectively.

Pop artist Fergie has become a partner and co-owner of Voli Light Vodka, a low-calorie French vodka, which claims to have 25–40% fewer calories than most leading vodka brands. Fergie is the second celebrity attached to the brand, which is co-owned by hip-hop star Pitbull.

Whole Foods is expanding its no-sulfites-added (NSA) wine selection to become the first national merchant to carry USDA Certified Organic NSA wines from Italy and Spain.
