After tremendous success last year, the Sud de France festival returns to New York for the forth time, kicking off a month-long celebration from June 4–June 30. The festival, which is also hosted throughout the year in Shanghai, Beijing, Paris, Düsseldorf, London, Mexico and Rio de Janeiro, aims to educate attendees about the wine, food and culture of the Languedoc-Roussillon region and southern France through a series of entertaining events.

This year’s Sud de France will feature winemaker dinners, special tastings and concerts by various French musicians, with nearly 120 participating wine stores and restaurants highlighting the wines of Languedoc-Roussillon. Wine producers will also be visiting various retail stores and restaurants to share winemaker stories and information about their estates. Special promotions across the greater New York City area and Long Island will also be available.

Attendees of the affair will also have a chance to win prizes, like V.I.P. tickets to the Festival Launch Party, Maison du Languedoc-Roussillon wine tasting, special dinners and more. To enter to win, visit

Here are some event highlights:

Sud de France Festival Launch Party: A night of wine, music, dancing and joie de vivre, with a general-admission concert featuring The Hot Sardines, Collectif Koa and The New York Brass Band. This soirée hopes to create an ambiance with enough spirit to transport attendees from the banks of the Beekman Beach Club at the South Street Seaport to the Mediterranean Coast. Taste Sud de France wines while dancing the night away. June 4, 6 pm–11 pm; open to the public, free.

Time Out New York Rooftop Event: A large selection of Languedoc-Roussillon wines will be poured for guests to sample against the backdrop of the New York skyline at sunset. June 12, 6 pm–9 pm; tickets available through Time Out New York. Venue is TBD.

Sud de France Picnic: Sud de France and Time Out New York invite New Yorkers to experience the ultimate summer-in-the-city activity—a picnic at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Attendees will nibble on Mediterranean treats and the tickets include a picnic basket, bike rental and voucher for a glass of wine. June 17, time TBD; tickets available through Time Out New York, $20.

Sud de France Wine Tastings: Wine tastings will be held throughout the duration of the festival at Sud de France’s New York outpost, the Maison de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon, located at 10 East 53rd Street. Winemakers, local sommeliers and retailers will teach guests basic wine tasting skills while they explore the diversity of the regional wines. Each seminar will focus on one of the five areas that form the Languedoc-Roussillon region: Aude, Gard, Hérault, Lozère and Pyrénnées-Orientales. June 5, 7, 14, 19, 26 & 28, 6 pm–8 pm; open to public, free.
