New York State Bans Powdered Alcohol

New York is the latest state to ban the sales of Palchohol, a powdered alcohol brand, joining 20 others that have outlawed the product and others like it. In a statement, Governor Andrew Cuomo said, “This dangerous product is a public health disaster waiting to happen. I am proud to sign this legislation that will keep powdered alcohol off the shelves and out of the wrong hands.”

Pieter and Paulus Langerock of Belgium, the world’s oldest living twins, have cited drinking quality wine as a reason for their longevity. The brothers recently celebrated their 102nd birthday with a glass of Bordeaux, according to Reuters. “Don’t waste your time fooling around, don’t eat too much and don’t run after women,” Paulus told the publication. The brothers have lived together almost their entire lives and neither chose to marry.

On the Scene

Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis and Frangelico®, the Italian hazelnut liqueur, teamed up to host a tasty dinner at Frankie’s 457 in Brooklyn, NY. De Laurentiis served four of her famous dishes (including her lemon spaghetti with shrimp and Roman-style chicken), each paired with a Frangelico cocktail, created by Distilled’s Micaela Piccolo. The goal of the partnership is to help bring Italian-inspired food and drinks to the at-home entertainer as part of Frangelico’s new ‘Live La Bella Vita’ campaign. WE’s Digital Editorial Manager Marina Vataj attended the Italian dinner and caught up with the chef between courses.
