New Managing Editor Appointed at Wine Enthusiast Magazine

Now in its 29th year of publishing, Wine Enthusiast Magazine announced today the promotion of Senior Editor & Tasting Director, Lauren Buzzeo to the role of Managing Editor for the print magazine.

“In her editorial and tasting roles, Lauren has been essential to the creative evolution of Wine Enthusiast,” says Susan Kostrzewa, Executive Editor. “Her deep knowledge and joy of wine, her industry acumen and her progressive approach to content makes her an ideal fit for the position as we continue to adapt to growing reader demand in the wine, beer and spirits space.”

Buzzeo has been with Wine Enthusiast since 2006 as a writer, editor and taster and is a regular wine panelist, speaker and educator for events and industry organizations worldwide.  Under her leadership, Wine Enthusiast’s tasting program has grown steadily each year in both team size and numbers of wines tasted, with more than 22,000 wines now tasted annually making it the most prolific wine magazine on the globe. Buzzeo is also an active participant in the magazine’s video and podcast programs.

Buzzeo will be assisted by Alexander Peartree, formerly Assistant Tasting Director, who rejoins the team as Tasting Manager after a brief tenure with The Winebow Group.

Additionally, Wine Enthusiast has appointed Christina Pickard to the role of Contributing Editor for Australia and New Zealand. A native of New York who has spent years living abroad in London and Perth, Australia, Pickard’s work has previously appeared in publications such as Australia’s Gourmet Traveller Wine, James Halliday’s Wine Companion, Scoop Magazine, Decanter and Wine Enthusiast. She was the co-host of the popular The Crush podcast, as well as a regular presenter on various TV shows.

Contributing Editor Anna Lee Iijima, currently the taster for New York and Germany, will be developing her role as well as the newly appointed taster for the Rhône Valley. See below for a full list of current tasting responsibilities.

“We’re in an exciting stage of expansion of the magazine, not only in print but in digital and tasting as well,” states Editor & Publisher, Adam Strum. “These changes further strengthen our direction and current status as the leading wine lifestyle and number one global tasting magazine.”
