Jorge Grosse, CEO of González Byass, a family owned producer of fine wines, sherries and premium spirits, announced that Nicolás Bertino will be the chief executive officer and country manager of the wholly owned importer, González Byass USA.

Bertino joined González Byass in 2008 as its international sales director.

Bertino will be responsible for strengthening the company’s U.S. presence by leading its sales and marketing operations. “The U.S. wine and spirits market is very competitive with huge potential for our business,” Bertino said. “I’m very excited to accept the challenge of expanding our footprint in this critical market.”

González Byass acquired Chicago-based importer Vin Divino Ltd (now González Byass USA) in August 2013. González Byass USA includes the González Byass portfolio, as well as wines from Italy, Austria, France and elsewhere around the world.

Martin Crane Moves Up At Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has announced the promotion of Martin Crane to executive vice president, general manager, New York. Crane will be responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day sales and operations throughout the state.

Southern Glazer’s, North America’s largest wine and spirits distributor, said Crane will report to Larry Goodrich, who was recently promoted to senior vice president, managing director, New York.

Crane most recently was the vice president, commercial operations for Southern Glazer’s in New York. He has 32 years of experience in the wine and spirits and consumer packaged-goods industries. Prior to joining Southern Glazer’s, Crane was senior vice president of spirit sales for Pernod Ricard USA.
