On Wednesday, Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds announced he is the official owner and chairman of Aviation Gin.
“Once I tried it, I knew I wanted to get involved with the company in a big way,” Reynolds said to Business Insider. “If you think all gin tastes the same, you’d be mistaken. Aviation is in a completely different league and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the company,” said Reynolds.
Aviation said that he will have an active leadership role in both the business aspects and the creative direction of the brand.
But Reynolds’ public statements suggest he may not be quite so involved…yet. In an automated email response to Business Insider Reynolds explained, “… I’m away from my desk at the moment but will respond the moment they give me a desk.”
But he did let them know about his new role.
“My responsibilities here at the company are vast. I’ll spend my days being photographed intermittently clinching my jaw muscles while pointing at things and nodding. I’ll drink Aviation Gin. I’ll sit in board meetings, imagining my very own Red Wedding.”
He also noted, “I don’t know whose idea it was to allow me into the gin business, but I can assure you, there are smarter, more reasonable people in charge.”
