UPDATED: Wine Enthusiast Companies Donates $25k to Restaurant Relief from Coronavirus Pandemic

Updated May 14, 2020

Wine Enthusiast—the authority on all things wine—has donated $25,000 to the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s (NRAEF) Restaurant Employee Relief Fund to assist restaurant employees facing financial hardship due to the Covid-19 crisis. The donation comprises 10% of a special sale held May 5—6 on WineEnthusiast.com and through Wine Enthusiast’s call center.

“The response to our relief initiative was overwhelming,” says Sybil Strum, Co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of Wine Enthusiast Companies. “Our readers and customers purchased our products at record levels, enabling us to hit our goal and offer swift support to restaurant workers in immediate need.”

The Restaurant Employee Relief Fund (RERF) was created with renowned chef, restaurateur, author and Emmy Award-Winning Television Host, Guy Fieri, to aid restaurant industry employees experiencing extraordinary hardship in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. Through RERF, grants will be made to restaurant workers who have seen a decrease in wages or loss of employment.

“With the support of Wine Enthusiast, we can help thousands of restaurant workers by offering financial aid during this incredibly difficult time,” said Rob Gifford, President of the NRAEF. “Wine Enthusiast’s commitment to the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund demonstrates their compassion for restaurant workers everywhere and the industry.”

Further, in its commitment to keeping its audience and readers updated throughout this ever-evolving pandemic, Wine Enthusiast Media has created a dedicated landing page for all coronavirus related coverage pertaining to the food and beverage industries.
