Wine Enthusiast—the authority on all things wine—has partnered with Rethink Food, a nonprofit that develops practical models to provide and distribute nutritionally dense, culturally sensitive meals to communities impacted by food insecurity.
Wine Enthusiast has pledged that 10% of all sales made on February 2–3, 2021, on WineEnthusiast.com or through Wine Enthusiast’s call center, will go directly to the organization to support Rethink Certified, a partnership program that feeds communities and keeps restaurants in business, not just in times of crisis.
“Access to nutritious meals is so crucial for the many families and individuals nationwide who are struggling, and Rethink Food’s program also supports businesses in the retail and restaurant sector who have additionally been impacted during this challenging time,” says Sybil Strum, cofounder and chief brand officer of Wine Enthusiast Companies. “This practical and symbiotic program is one that will not only make an immediate impact during the Covid pandemic, but is an excellent solution for the future to come.”
With food insecurity escalating and restaurants facing widespread closures during Covid, Rethink Food launched Rethink Certified in April 2020. The program provides grants and resources to local restaurants so they can prepare community meals as a part of daily operations.
Since its launch, the Rethink Certified program has invested $10M into 40-plus independent restaurants, and has provided over 2.5 million meals for those facing food insecurity.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Wine Enthusiast to reduce food insecurity,” says Matt Jozwiak, Rethink Food founder and CEO. “There is a collective urgency to create lasting change in our food system at this critical time. Through this special two-day event, Wine Enthusiast’s donation will go directly towards providing meals for our communities impacted by food insecurity while supporting local restaurants through the Rethink Certified program.”
