Wine Enthusiast Podcast: Brooklyn’s First Black-Owned Champagne Brand Is Breaking Barriers

How does one launch their own wine brand? The answer might surprise you. Starting a business in the wine industry has its challenges. Wine has been a male-dominated industry for decades, so it can be even more challenging as a Black woman. But with challenge and change comes opportunity.

In this week’s episode, Assistant Editor, Jacy Topps talks to Marvina Robinson, founder and CEO of B. Stuyvesant Champagne, a new Brooklyn based champagne brand.

Champagne is a sparkling wine that must be produced in the Champagne region of France. However, the owner of the label doesn’t necessarily have to be based in France. Marvina discusses the barriers she faced to become one of the few African American women to own a Brooklyn-based champagne label.
