One of the defining factors of a good store is trusting the ownership and staff so much that you want them to select your wine. The businesses listed here are not online-only subscriptions that match you to a bottle based on quizzes and algorithms. They’re brick-and-mortars that offer hand-picked selections, often with other perks.

3 Parks Wine Shop

Owner Sarah Pierre opened this shop after a career in restaurants. She focuses on small producers, with an eye for value. That’s why the shop’s base-level club membership costs only $50 per month for four bottles. For $80, you can get six bottles or join the Vero Natural Wine Club for two or three bottles of skin-contact, pét-nat and other styles. Make the most of summer with the three-month Seasonal Rosé Wine Club.

Bounty Hunter Rare Wine & Spirits

Napa, CA

True to its name, this seller seeks out the wines that collectors are after, from its California home and around the world. Club options include “The Most Wanted Club,” with sought-after bottles from regions like Tuscany and Bordeaux, and Cabernet and Pinot Noir themed clubs that let consumers dive deep on their favorite grapes.

The first wine club was founded in a Los Angeles-area pharmacy back in 1972.

Cellar d’Or Wine, Cider & Spirits

Ithaca, NY

With an entry point of $30-$40 for two bottles per month, this shop’s club has a custom offering on the high end: Tell them your budget and what you like, then let them do the rest. A cider club and one highlighting undersung U.S. regions round out what’s available.

Howard Street Wine Merchant

Omaha, NE

This family-owned shop offers unexpected bottles from well-known regions in the Savvy Sipper club, or ageworthy selections in the Cellar Meister. Other club perks include free local delivery, educational materials in shipments and Pick-up Party tastings.

The Wine Market

Owners Elise Loehr and Wendy Burch opened this shop to sip beyond France. Its club, for only $50 per month, offers two to four bottles. But the real value is in extras like little gifts from time to time and access to limited allocations, exclusive events and first notification of tastings.
