21 Grams 2016 Red (Washington)

Cellar Selection

Like many wines from this vintage, and certainly every vintage of 21 Grams, this is more about the future than the present. With the heart of this wine Cabernet from Cold Creek Vineyard, the aromas offer notes of spice, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, assorted herb, graphite and gravel. The palate is soft and silky in texture, with a core of coffee, cherry and herb notes that only become more rich as the wine opens. The finish goes on endlessly. Bright acidity and firm tannins keep it all in focus. It's a classic. Don't touch it until at least 2027, and it will drink well for an easy decade beyond that. Sean P. Sullivan
