A Blooming Hill Vineyard 2012 in the Port Style Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)

The winemakers made a good run at this, blending six Pinot clones and fortifying with a Pinot Noir brandy. But the finished wine, when first opened, is a leafy, disjointed mix of flavors. Fruitcake, baking spices, wet leaves and some finishing heat don't quite come together. But if left alone for some days or even weeks, this might pull itself into shape. Paul Gregutt
