Abarbanel 1998 Syrah (Vin de Pays d'Oc)

Big and inky, with perfumed fruit, a gamy note, and a whiff of smoked meat. It's got all that you expect from a French country Syrah, including body and black fruit. Not terribly complex or polished, but it's one of the better kosher offerings of this varietal. Will do wonders for brisket. Michael Schachner
