Aromas of mature dark-skinned fruit, menthol and graphite form the nose. On the firmly structured palate, assertive, close-grained tannins surround steeped prune, dried cherry, powdered sage and a hint of tobacco leaf before leaving a clenching finish. Despite the aggressive tannins, the fruit is already mostly dried out so drink sooner rather than later. Kerin O’Keefe
